About Me

I am an artist from Invercargill, New Zealand now residing in Melbourne, Australia. I moved to Melbourne to take up a lead creative role at a product design consultancy in 2016.

I had a brief tenure at fine art school at Otago Polytechnic in 2003 before focusing my tertiary education on product design. Since graduating in 2006 I have worked exclusively in product design working with top consultancies in Australasia.

My daily influence in art is design led; by virtue of my chosen career I am constantly assessing and interrogating products form, finish and visual language. I love the juxtaposition of art and design. 

Whilst I have explored many art mediums and techniques over the years I have discovered a particular passion for pencil drawing. It is incredibly versatile allowing work to virtually commence and pause without hesitation - perfect for a hobbyist activity and a busy lifestyle. I have honed the skill over countless hours and can apply true precision to the work I produce.  Since working with coloured pencils I have been able to diversify not only the colour palette I use but the variety of the subject media I’m portraying.

I aim to produce further series of work with similar qualities as my 2017 series “Fish out of Water” ; focusing on vibrant colours and textures to create images with compositional purity.
